KRON-San Francisco (@kron4news) reports, a strong 4.4 magnitude earthquake rattled the Bay Area shortly before 3 am. USGS reports the quake was centered in Berkely.

 

 

 

The earthquake struck at 2:39 am and was centered near the Claremont Hotel. The earthquake had a preliminary depth of 8 miles. Bit people reported feeling the quake as far away as 40 miles south of San Jose and parts of North Santa Rosa.
