I guess I was right. Or at least there were many people that also believed that the movie critics who claimed “Bright” was the worst movie of the year, were full of shit. Variety (@variety) reports, the Will Smith led movie pulled in 11 million viewers over a three day period. According to Nielson ratings, Bright drew in a bigger audience in the same time span than episode one of season two, of popular Netflix series, The Crown. I said last week, and still agree, that Bright was by no stretch of the imagination, a great movie. But, it wasn’t as terrible a movie as movie critics attempted to claim it was. 11 million viewers over a three day period is not an outstanding number, but if the movie was as terrible as critics said it was, and their opinion meant anything to most people, I don’t think that many people would’ve wasted their time watching the movie. Many Twitter users who have seen the movie said the same thing I did. “Bright was not a great movie, but it was far from the worst movie of the year.”
