ABC Philadelphia (6abc) is reporting that the former top prosecutor in the city of Philadelphia has been formally sentenced following his guilty plea in a corruption scandal. Seth Williams was sentenced to five (5) years behind bars on Tuesday afternoon, which was the maximum sentence under the plea deal. Williams has been in protective custody inside the FDC (Federal Detention Center) on 7th & Arch since his late June guilty plea to one count of taking a bribe from a local businessman. Twenty eight other corruption charges were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea. The trial went on for three weeks. The evidence against Williams was overwhelming. The evidence showed Williams took more than $30,000 in bribes. Williams also defrauded his 87-year-old mother’s nursing home.
