DOMESTIC TERRORIST LEAVES JAR FILLED WITH NAILS AND EXPLOSIVES AT NORTH CAROLINA AIRPORT

A man planted a mason jar filled with explosive chemicals and nails at a Western North Carolina airport last week and vowed to “fight a war on U.S soil,” FBI documents released on Tuesday says.

CBS News (@cbsnews) reports the FBI says investigators found the rigged improvised explosive device Friday morning at the Asheville airport near a terminal entrance. Asheville police bomb technicians then rendered the bomb safe. Michael Christopher Estes has been charged with attempted malicious use of explosive materials and unlawful possession of explosives at an airport. Estes was arrested Saturday and admitted to leaving the explosive device at the airport. Estes said that he was getting ready to fight a war on U.S. soil, but did not elaborate on what that meant, who he was planning to fight a war against, or his motivation for wanting to fight a war. Estes was being held at the Buncombe County Jail without bond after a hearing on Tuesday.
