Monday afternoon ESPN suspended host and half of “SportsCenter’s – The Six with Michael and Jemele” Jemele Hill. Ms. Hill had formerly been reprimanded by the company for Tweets she sent out calling Donald Trump a racist. She was threatened with suspension after that incident, but the backing of colleagues at the network helped in Jemele’s cause. She released a statement afterward, and life moved on….at least for most of us. The network received backlash from Trump supporters after the incident who claimed that more should’ve been done by ESPN in light of her comments. Todaty, ESPN gave in to the pressure when they suspended Hill, and released this statement.

“Jemele Hill has been suspended for two weeks for a second violation of our social media guidelines. She previously acknowledge letting her colleagues and company down with an impulsive Tweet. In the aftermath, all employees were reminded of how individual Tweets may reflect negatively on ESPN and that such actions would have consequences. Hence this decision.”

This is probably the Tweet that got Hill suspended. The J.J in the Tweet is short for Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, who reportedly told Cowboys players that anyone not standing for the National Anthem would not be allowed to play in the game, or for his team.
